about

2014 is here, and so are the fireworks of The Cenobites' newest release on Dark Side of Innocence Recordings – the floor stomping “Hold Your Own” and a soul-invoking rework of Asstetic's “Gaya Theory.” Since their formation in 2005, the San Francisco duo of Kompressah and DJ Doja have graced the imprints of Foul Play Records, Teknikal Funk, Filth Factory and Future Sickness Recordings and have collaborated with heavy hitters Mumblz, Empire-X, Kiro, Kryteria, Kia, Damian Sol, Eric James and Spektrum. These two previous hip-hop junkies have come very far in the last eight years, both as producers and deejays, and have plans to tour nationally throughout the year.

DSI021: Cenobites
A. Asstetic – Gaya Theory (Cenobites Remix)
B. Hold Your Own

Release Date:

A. Gaya Theory Remix:

The Cenobites are known to get the crowd going crazy with their hard-edged releases, and Gaya Theory delivers a bass bin overload of squelchy neuro bass throughout. The genesis of the track, however, is on a planet of its own. Spine-tingling piano melodies and pads introduce the number like we're back in the days of Moving Shadow. Filtered drums ascend to the drop, and siren-like vocals will put you into a place of peace. A half-time break leads to the second drop, allowing you to embrace all of the pieces of this beauty one more time.

B. Hold Your Own:

Layered melodic synths accent forward-driven drums, the pre-empt to a barrage of floor smashing drums and basslines in true Cenobite fashion. Techy bass, pitch-shifted vocals and vibrant melodies will create a sea of ecstasy-driven bliss and wild bass quakes. Don't discount the impact these two heavy hitters will have on the drum 'n bass scene in 2014. This is only the beginning.
